Analysis of Tourism Human Resource Projections in West Nusa Tenggara Province

Abstract

The tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara Province has been experiencing dynamic growth, with the emergence of new tourist destinations like the Mandalika circuit. The government and relevant stakeholders need to proactively address human resources management, ensuring policies aimed at enhancing quality and quantity of human resources in tourism sector are appropriately constructed. Forecast analysis should be conducted to examine the development of tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara Province. However, forecasting the number of tourist visits is a multifaceted challenge, given the numerous interrelated factors, including the expansion of tourist destinations and evolving travel trends. Our forecasting analysis reveals a promising outlook for the tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara Province. By 2027, the projected number of tourist visits is expected to reach approximately 3.630.470 visits, reflecting around 14.17%-32.85% annual growth rate. Concurrently, by 2027 non-star hotels are forecasted to require around 7.277 human resources, increasing around 1.23%-1.70% annually. Star hotels, on the other hand, are anticipated to demand approximately 8.779 human resources by 2027, increasing around 0.78%-4.55% annually. The human resource required in restaurants is forecasted to reach about 10.352 employees, with annual growth rate around 3.78%-5.48%. Finally, the human resource needed in travel agencies is projected to reach approximately 2.494 employees, exhibiting annual growth rate around 4.42%-6.25%. This research's forecast analysis endeavours to provide valuable insights into the annual human resource requirements for the tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara Province over the next 5 (five) years. These findings can serve as a foundation for informed policy decisions related to development and management of this vital sector.
