Abstract

This paper's self-agency is associated with women's awareness and independence in social, economic and political contexts. Women fishers in Kampung Bulang face a layered system of injustice that forces them to be independent. The inequality of access and the dual role becomes the complexity of the social structures that marginalize them. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection through observation and interviews. The findings of this study indicate that the dual role experienced by women fishers includes domestic parts in households and breadwinners. The involvement of women in Bulang Village in fishers' activities such as going to sea with their husbands, marketing or selling catches, and processing catches so that they become economical products. The self-agency of women fishers in Kampung Bulang faced a patriarchal social structure; they sought to earn additional economic income for their families and innovated to market the catch. In addition, they are active in various activities of social and political association.
