The theory of motivation and its relationship to human behavior has attracted the interest of scholars since Maslow introduced the Pyramid of Needs theory in the 1940s. Since then, many studies have tried to examine the motivational aspect in the formation of human behavior. Related to this topic, this study aims to explore the developing theories about motivation and human behavior. The methodology used is to conduct a literature review to find the relationship among studies and getting a conclusion. The results showed that the motivation of human behavior has many aspects and is formed from a combination of personal interest drives and social relationships. It can appear in the form of conscious motives that encourage the emergence of discursive behavior or unconscious motives that lead to practical behavior. Therefore, the motivation of human behavior cannot be generalized and must be placed in the context faced by the individual when he performs the action.
